Samsung LE32A457 Review

Firstly, let's deal with the important technical details that explains why it is hard to be disappointed by the picture quality.

The Samsung LE32A457 has a superb contrast ratio of 10,000:1. Unlike slightly cheaper 32" LCD tvs from brand names that leave a lot to be desired, this is a very good level, preventing the blacks and whites from looking washed out and grey.

Then the LE32A457 comes with the latest processing engine by Samsung with the DNIe+ (Digital Natural Image engine). This basically optimises and enhances the colour, contrast, motion and detail. It is this technology that Samsung use that also places this tv into the high end market of LCD tvs, while still keeping it competitively cheap.

Although this tv will not match the latest LCD or Plasma tv's superb black levels it will still give you an image with no greyness. In addition with the 'Wide Colour Enhancer 2' feature the colours look more vivid.

A lovely feature that Samsung put on this TV is the 3 preset 'entertainment modes'. These optimise the viewing for either movies, games or sports. This can be very handy. One of the most common questions asked when buying a new plasma or LCD tv, is whether this tv will be any good for playing PS3 games or for watching the football. This often concerns people more than whether or not they will get the most our of their HD...and it is a valid point.

Finally, it is the little extras that most people forget that make the Samsung LE32A457 television that little bit better than other flatscreen tvs. For example, having 3 HDMI slots will be extremely useful, especially once you start watching more HD content. You will find that once you get an HDTV you will (if you haven't done so already) want to be able to get the most out of your new tv. Therefore you will find you can easily use up 3 slots with a Sky HD box, a Blu-ray player or a DVD player with upscaling capabilites, allowing you to still enjoy your old DVD collection.

Therefore, overall this tv gets ****4 stars from us. Although, this tv is not Full HD and the sound is only as good as you could expect from most flat screen tvs, this tv is a fantastic all-rounder tv for those on a tight budget but still want a high end spec. tv and be able to enjoy both SD and HD content. It is our recommended 32" LCD TV!
